Look out for appropriate clothing in your wardrobe, take advice of people around you going for the same function. Sometimes, it really helps.
Make sure to read whats on the invite for Dress code.
For the men, a nice suit, Tie/bow tie ( depending on the event), polished shoes and hair done well. And yes, clean shaved.
For the women, an age appropriate dress ( full length or knee length).
Accessories again play a big role in transforming an outfit from day to night.
Makeup- the right amount- remember less is more.
For the ladies, if this is your first try at heels, remember that practice makes perfect. You wouldn't want to tumble down those stairs and look all clumsy.
To sum it up, dress well, and walk confidently and make sure you look at yourself in a full length mirror before you walk out of your home.
